Our team consists of husband and wife duo Winston Karel, and Lois Decker, a dynamic pair whose combined skills and years of industry experience produce proven results.
Winston KarelWinston brings many years of experience to the table, having served as a well-site geologist in such places as the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, Alaska, and offshore locations of the Beaufort Sea and Labrador coast of Eastern Canada.
He was mentored by Edgar J. Burge, who wire lined logged one of the first wells in Canada for the Schlumberger Brothers co. in 1946. Burge's mentorship was of great benefit to Winston, as he learned invaluable hands-on practical concepts of petrophysics, and the use of old logging interpretive techniques.
Winston has in turn been a mentor to many individuals over the course of his career, and has provided several petrophysical courses to the industry.
Over the years, he has held many positions within the C.W.L.S., Canadian Well Logging Society, and was nominated Vice President and President during 1994 to 1996. He was the Co-Chair of the Geo-Triad Convention, representing the C.W.L.S, in conjunction with the CSPG and CSEG in 1998. The symposium was a resounding success, for the 3 non profit societies, as the paid attendance was over 5000 registrants from all over the world. In 2002, Winston was nominated as an Honorary member of the C.W.L.S for his past many years of service to the society and industry.
